Laminate – Purpose: Protects the decal long-term and creates an easy application
- Applied on top of the printed/cut decal permanently
- Adds protection against:
- UV fading
- Scratches
- Chemicals
- Weather
- Eliminates the tape peeling process – clean surface, apply, and move on.
Think of it as: a protective shield
When you should use laminate: Use laminate anytime the decal needs to last in harsh conditions.
Premask – Purpose: Helps you apply the decal
- Goes on top of the decal temporarily
- Holds all the pieces/letters together in the correct position
- Lets you transfer the design from the backing paper to the surface
- Removed after the decal is applied
Think of it as: a carrier or installation aid
When you should use premask: Use premask anytime the decal has to go on clean, straight, and in one piece.
Some may also prefer to use both as a safe and reliable option.
